I have reported 50 episodes of Typography News

I have been pretty content to be a lurker around TypeDrawers, but I was recently encouraged by another member to post here about my YouTube channel and Typography News series.

I am Curtis Simpson, and I currently livestream on Tuesdays and Fridays. I report on industry news, events, apps, and branding, but the bulk of each episode revolves around new releases.

I have had conversations with many of you outside of this forum, and I have to say you have been overwhelmingly welcoming and helpful in those interactions.

This isn't a sales pitch, as I have a strict policy that no one in the type industry can sponsor Typography News. I just thought I'd formally introduce myself and link the latest episode.

I've seen some of these; they're rather good.

Curtis recently reviewed my new font release. It was relevant, informed, and honest. Pointing out advantages as well as weak spots in a kind and constructive way. I was impressed by the level of his focus and the quality of the reviews, given the frequency and volume of the content.

I think that having such a channel for font news and reviews, which is not connected to any particular type entity, is a really important element toward empowering the independent type industry.

Customers now have a solid overview of the complete font market in one place, without having to deal with marketing hype.

The title of this thread is potentially confusing. It sounded like someone was claiming to have notified YouTube that 50 episodes of Typography News violated YouTube policies. Yes, reporters deliver news to newspapers; news does get reported. However, "I have reported" something in English normally means: I have informed authorities that a violation exists. One creates episodes of a webcast, or one reports events within a news program rather than reporting the news program itself.
    Thus, correct is:
"I have reported on the world of typography in 50 episodes of Typography News"
    for example.
  • Congratulations on 50 episodes! I don’t think that’s possible without a deep love of type.

I really enjoyed your book review and flip-through of Grid Systems in Graphic Design—well, the first half at least :) . You went way more in depth than I expected or had time for, but I’ll definitely go back to finish it.

I also really enjoy the type news you include in your videos.

    Keep up the great work!
