Embroidery and typographic ornaments in the 16th century

I'm trying to use 16th-century embroidery books to create typographic ornaments.

Are there any suggestions for other sources?
I imagine there are studies on the connection between typographic decorations and the spread of embroidery in the 16th century (perhaps about Giovanni Antonio Tagliente).

  Besides books, you could look at textiles themselves! For example here's a search of the V&A collections.
