Hi guys, new to the forum but not to type design. I went trough my old files and came across something that could be used as a logo for the forum. Little reworking and voila:
I'm not against having a logo per se... But if there is a logo, keep in mind that TypeDrawers is a play on words with more than one possible meaning. That was intentional. Fixing it to one meaning kind of spoils that.
That said, I think it works fine to just have the name TypeDrawers set in a font. I don't know that we really need a logo.
I thing if we have a logo, it should be roughly the dimensions of the current title. Like the kind of thing you seem on a bike frame. I like that compact header and probably the only place it'll be used is at the top of this forum.
Thank you all for your comments, I appreciate them. I thought my logo had a smart idea, but it's true it is not usable in small sizes and not the right format.
Our multi-tiered logo development committee and extensive focus groups have decided on this fresh logo idea. Our design process acts as an invisible facilitator applying strategic rigor to bold thinking and allowing us to develop creative ideas that we know are relevant. The new TypeDrawers logo jibes with technology, conversion rates and user engagement. It creates a mutually enhancing and reinforcing brand identity. There is no space between e and D which captures the strong drive of the company and amplifies the users. The new TypeDrawers logo features a sans-serif typeface to suggest customer closeness. The open apertures in the design embody the spirit and possibility of a young forum that continues to build and shape its story and future. The roundness of the right half of the D refers to the world, refers to globalization and communicates the international reputation of our institution. Lastly, the vivid aqua colour evokes growth, harmony and safety that we intend to bring to our stakeholders.
With the unique concentration of type designers
on this site and with a simple two word (camel case or otherwise) text logo,
what about setting it in a different font every week - every day - or with even with every
refresh?

If that's the direction, I think either GlyphPushers or GlyphShills is more inclusive and sounds Klassier.
