Dfr in blackletter fonts

What did the ‘Dfr’ bit stand for in the names of digital blackletter fonts? Was that a reference to a special font layout? Please remind me. Thanks in advance, Maxim

    Deutsche Fraktur, had a couple of special ligatures for ch and ck I think.

    What Thomas said – sometimes also tz and others. Typically the main difference was having the long s (ſ) as default, and the round s under some unrelated but easily typeable codepoint, like #.
