Clarkson Book Support alternatives

I’m looking for an alternative to Clarkson Book Supports to use when handling some of my very large books. The markup on Clarkson supports in North America is absurd—a medium set runs $265, more than twice the UK price. Has anyone found a good alternative for handling big books? I was going to just cut my own, but I can’t find anyone who sells foam blocks in small quantities.

In case anyone is interested I tracked down a cheap alternative. Foam Factory sells a back bolster upholstery foam cushion that’s just the right size for $23. With shipping it cost me $35, and I cut it into two 14" cushions with the chef’s knife in my kitchen. It’s not as nice as the Clarkson system, but it leaves a lot more money free for buying books.2
