A new high-fidelity digital edition of Henk Krijger’s 1952 Raffia Initials manufactured by Patrick Griffin, Canada Type is now available at http://canadatype.net/fonts/raffia-initials. The new digital edition was manufactured under my supervision from photocopied reproductions and digital photographic images of the master drawings. I am longtime student of Henk Krijger’s life and work. Access to the photocopied reproductions and digital photographic images of the master drawings has facilitated a much greater fidelity in the shaping of the terminals, the representation of the bends in the strokes and greater definition where the strokes intersect than the current MyFonts version which was done from specimen sheets.

The new edition is issued in Open Type format (OTF) and as an EPS vector archive. The vector glyphs allow colourization of individual strands and groups of strands.

See the information on the Initials on my website: http://www.enneson.com/raffia_initials.asp

I did a presentation on the Initials at ATypI Vancouver in 2003. You can see some of the slides here: http://www.enneson.com/pedweb_people/pe_atypi_1.asp

Proceeds from the sale of the font will go toward further exploration, archiving, and dissemination of information about Henk Krijger’s life and work.

On my Raffia Initials pages there are examples of the Initials in use. I am keen on seeing additional high quality examples of the Initials in use.
