New in Font Proofer 1.8: Your Biggest Feature Requests

I’m excited to share a couple big things about Font Proofer: a huge update that I launched last week, and an imminent update to the pricing!

I’ll start with the latter, because it’s quick. I’m working on a one-time purchase option for Font Proofer! After countless conversations about subscriptions and pricing models over the years, it feels good to offer this alternative. If you’re interested in this, reach out to me directly—I’d love to hear your thoughts as I work out the final details. I can’t wait to launch this very soon!

But today, the big news is version 1.8. And the most exciting thing is the new live preview when editing a section! You can use arrow keys to change numbers in text fields, compare “one line at a time” across font styles, add line breaks in Glyph Grid, create cool specimen-like pages with continuous content in the Waterfall and Style Comparison layouts, auto-align left-to-right (LTR) and RTL (ex: Arabic) paragraphs, and so much more. It supports Glyphs 4, too. Under the hood there’s an all-new layout engine that’s about a zillion times faster, and along with the Section Live Preview, advances Font Proofer very close to the full-size live preview that I demoed at ATypI last year.

All together, these improvements transform the experience of using Font Proofer.
