Checking in, calligrapher gone typo

I'm a Norwegian calligrapher, typographer, book designer, and freelance type designer with 36 years of professional experience. For 30 years I taught typography and related subjects to graphic design students.

My work sits at the intersection of calligraphy and type design, with a particular interest in how historical letterforms inform the typefaces we use today.

Lovely work! I spent a happy half hour looking through your website while drinking my coffee: a very pleasant way to start the day.

If you’re looking for other ways to engage with type and lettering people online, you might also like the typo.social instance on Mastodon.

Hi John. What a lovely welcome to Typebrowser. I will check out your recommendation, thanks a lot. Hope your evening is good!
  • Christopher, always a delight to see your work. And also exciting, if a calligrapher of your expertise decides to capture some of your alphabets as type.

    Thank you, Carl!
  • Hi Christopher, I'm a bit late to the conversation, but welcome.
Your calligraphy is wonderful – I've been an admirer of your work for quite a while. And, to be honest, I'm in awe of your muscle control and understanding of shapes – the way you can form letters so well yet, in the same moment, you capture the spontaneity, the lovely flowing expression which gives the letters so much life.
    Brilliant!
