Third-party fonts not showing up in Word and PowerPoint

I've got the 2024-version of Office for Mac (the one-off non-subscription version), but cannot for the life of me get any fonts outside of the default system fonts to show up in Word nor PowerPoint. That counts for my own fonts but also for any third-party font.
According to the www, non-standard fonts should work in this version of Office, but no matter how I've tried to install them, or in which folder I put them, they don't show up in Word/PPT.
I've tried installing via FontBook and via manually dragging into Library/Fonts. Have obviously also tried to restart
The fonts are visible in other software like TextEdit, Pages and InDesign.
Anyone got any tips or advice?
