An Interesting Case of (Mis)Appropiation of a font for Trademark

Here the typeface designer is chronicling his struggle in fighting a multi-national beer brand who downloaded a pirated version of his font and made their Trademark in EU with it

    This is interesting, in that at least their current licensing terms (https://designerdude.net/general-licenses/), although not in the usual legalese, are pretty clear that there they do not even offer an off-the-shelf license that permits unlimited use on items for sale (e.g. beer bottles). What licenses they actually had available back at the time is another question, mind you.

    Even now, I don’t quite see how one can actually buy any license beyond the personal-use one, on their website. But of course the proper response would be to contact them.
