Why MainType remains a go-to Windows font manager

Hi everyone,

Every day, billions of lines of text appear on screens and pages around the world, yet the creative process behind choosing and managing the right fonts often goes unnoticed. Type designers, graphic artists, and typographers know well how challenging it can be to quickly find the perfect font within a vast library.

This need inspired us to create MainType, our Windows-based font manager, back in 2004. Now used by thousands of professionals worldwide, we've recently launched MainType 13—a major update designed to streamline your workflow when browsing, organizing, and selecting fonts.

What’s new in MainType 13?

  • Grid View: Quickly switch from the classic details list to a visual grid showing your fonts as large thumbnails. It’s intuitive, visually clear, and makes browsing large collections much faster. Switch back to Details View anytime with just one click.

  • One-click Group Export: Right-click any font group and instantly export fonts while preserving their original folder structure. Great for sharing font sets or archiving project assets.

Additionally, version 13 comes with improved Unicode support, a refined shaping engine for better previews of kerning, alternates, and complex scripts, plus UI and usability enhancements.

MainType offers a free edition that manages up to 2,500 fonts, as well as two paid editions with additional functionality.
