    So far, most of my work is behind the scenes, working closely with graphic designers, design agencies, and foundries—mainly through 1:1 calls for specific questions and occasional presentations for design agencies.

    I was really hoping you would, so thank you for the detailed insights.

    I understand your need for the business model you have developed, and why you think a subcription model wouldn’t work. I am still wondering, though, about a service that could be run tangentially to your main business model. I am aware from talking with colleagues who do well in retail licensing that fonts-in-use — both as a general concept of presenting work and as the website of that name — are a significant way to generate interest and sales. So it seems to me that a tool that locates usage of fonts for license checking and infringement identification is potentially hugely beneficial to foundries in also finding nice examples of fonts-in-use. I think making this information available in some way could be symbiotic with your primary business model, because anything that drives use of fonts also creates more for your tool to find, both legitimate and infringing. It can also be symbiotic with graphic designers, brand agencies, etc. by drawing attention to the nice work they’re doing with fonts.
