Workflow woes Affinity Designer > Fontlab 7

While Fontlab's drawing tools produce excellent results, but often I would like to use features that only exist in tools like illustrator or affinity designer. Ive moved from Illustrator to Affinity Designer, and am having trouble preserving curve quality when I copy expanded strokes to Fontlab. Instead of the smooth, balanced curves I see in Designer, I get crinkly lumps with node handles all over the place. Has anyone here run into this? It also just occurred to me that I have not paid attention to the size/resolution of wcanvas in Designer. Should that match my em square?

Set the units in AD to points, this should match UPM units in FL. Or draw a consistent rectangle around your sources when you copy-paste, and use Preferences > Paste & Duplicate settings (Vector and Fit). Hold F1 or Fn+F1 over these settings to learn them.
