Well, not $100/hr, but “up to” $100/hr. Which is $4000/wk or ~ $12K/month, without full benefits. This is not insanely good for the SF Bay Area, but is certainly plausible.1
-
Some recruitment texts are written with a touch of human voice, others are the equivalent of a drill sergeant barking them at you. Maybe it is in preparation of what is to come?

So here in the midwest, I know plenty of designers who'd donate a kidney to get $4k a week. Seriously, what is the cost of living over there?1
-
When I moved to the Bay Area in 1997, the cost differential was nothing like it is now, but it was still striking! Enough so that I declared that the best was to understand it was as a foreign currency. We were getting paid in the local “California dollars” which were very different than plain old US dollars. That still seems a reasonable way to look at it.
Compared to Portland, OR, where I am now, the median home cost in Palo Alto is just over $400K here, and just under $3M there, or 7x as expensive. Cupertino isn’t quite as bad, at “only” just over $2M, or only 5x the price of Portland.
Almost everything is at least a bit more expensive. Health care and food/groceries are about 17% higher than here.
The big exception is tech, of course. Great place to buy a TV or a computer.
So, plenty of people have nice things, but still can’t afford a house. Somebody could drive a new BMW, and still not even imagine being able to do a down payment on a house.
California dollars.6 -
With all those skills how hard would it be to offer production and programming support to other foundries at $100 an hour and live somewhere cheap?6
-
(Note: I don’t think I invented the “California dollars” idea. I think it was my friend Sean Stewart. As a writer, he often has a way with these “word” things.)1
-
More like NorCal dollars.
Although not as affordable as most of the rest of the country, things aren't nearly that bad down here. Well, as long as you have a car. :-/2 -
