Wim Crouwel, recipient of, amongs others, the 2019 Type Directors Club Medal and the 2009 Gerrit Noordzij prize, died at the age of 90 in Amsterdam.
Crouwel is best known for his New Alphabet, though he considered it jokingly as "over-the-top and never meant to be really used".
