For those who have not heard, Gerry Leonidas posted the news on Twitter that Gerard Unger has passed away. A great loss to the world of type design.

That is shocking news. I’m not on Twitter, so I don’t always hear such things in a timely fashion. Thanks for posting.
He will be missed.

Among the most gracious people I've had the pleasure to meet. Condolences to those who feel his loss most strongly.

I only knew Unger through his books. Which are excellent, and will guide new generations of designers for decades to come.

I had one or two times the opportunity to meet him. A true gentleman of type, and very humorous. May he rest in peace and be always remembered.
