For those who have not heard, Gerry Leonidas posted the news on Twitter that Gerard Unger has passed away. A great loss to the world of type design.

I only knew Unger through his books. Which are excellent, and will guide new generations of designers for decades to come.3

I had one or two times the opportunity to meet him. A true gentleman of type, and very humorous. May he rest in peace and be always remembered.
