I can't find an overview/tutorial on the subject, or any relevant plugins/scripts. Am I missing something? Are there dedicated separate applets for inktraps?
I haven't seen any plugin that would make inktraps. You will have to do it by hand. A good start would be to copy the outline to the background. Select the corner you want to change and choose "open corner". This will give you two points from which you can start making your inktrap.
@Ramiro Espinoza Thank you, I have now tried the app and it is exactly what this situation needs. (It would be nice if Glyphs.app included at least basic ink trap functionality in the future.)
Is there any comprehensive list of such specialized type tools, either on this site or elsewhere?
If you mean the tip of the trap is rarely mathematically perfect, that's true, but –especially since it's flanked by curves, not lines– I for one don't get frustrated. Also if you wrote an algorithm for this it would always be as precise as possible.
