I recognize it would require far more complicated programming, but it would be cool if, when editing the text in the first, waterfall, tab, the text in each size changed accordingly.

I think your intuition is right, but your /r/ is still too light :-) You should also extend the bottom right serif of /r/ like you've done with /f/.

This is so much more interesting than what you started with. /M/ feels like it's pulling apart in the middle a bit.

You might try just a little bit of incline and/or a little bit of cupping, so that the overall effect remains straight but the contour continues the liveliness of the rest of the letter.
