In the late 80s/early 90s days of Type 1, I remember the suffixes LT, MT, and BE on the Type 1 fonts Adobe sold, and BT was the suffix for all Bitstream fonts. I’d bet money they originated both to f…3 -

I was going to suggest looking at decodeunicode, but that seems to have stopped at Unicode 11.0.0 in 2018.2
