The gaps in the currency symbols seem very unusual, which is not bad in and of itself, but feels weird without other equally unusual features.1 -

Although it certainly looks troubling, I would really want to see an overlay in which the shapes underneath were not obscured so much. If the overlay had transparency that would help.1 -
