Rocher Color is an experimental variable color font of the COLR/CPAL kind. It features 2 axes (bevel and shadow) and 11 color palettes. It was inspired by Merit Badge, a variable color font designed by David Jonathan Ross.
If all you are seeing is a bunch of hollow letters, your browser does not support this font format yet. As it is an experimental technology, software support will only get better. Rocher Color has been confirmed to work on:
- Mozilla Firefox 62 on any platform;
- Microsoft Edge on Windows 10;
- Google Chrome 69 on MacOS High Sierra;
- Google Chrome 71 on Windows 10 (in beta);
- Safari 11 on MacOS High Sierra.
Being able to provide multiple color palettes is a nice benefit of the COLR/CPAL format, even though there’s no way of accessing them yet. This will change when the CSS font-palette property gets adopted by the browsers in the future. For the time being, you can choose your colors and download a custom version right here on this page.
Unfortunately, this font is not compatible with Adobe apps yet, as they do not support COLR/CPAL fonts.
