In http://typedrawers.com/discussion/1111/fontforge-harmonizer Michael Vokits said,

As for FF, the only feature I think it actually lacks is the ability to always show node positions, and that's purely a preference thing (it's a real drag having to go to the View menu over and over).

  • Add drawing canvas toolbar button to Show All Point Co-Ordinates
  • Add a preference to store the activation state of this

When active, it would look like this FontLab screenshot:

or this RoboFont screenshot (thanks to Nina Stössinger for posting it in the TD thread above :)

However both show failure where points are close together. So a bonus task would be

  • like the Ruler tool, use some 'collision detection' to avoid overlapping co-ordinates

This is a great idea... Currently while using the Add Point to Path tool, I show a little "notation" that follows the cursor around showing the x/y coordinates for the new point. An on-canvas solution would be pretty easy.

Collision detection... hmmm :-)

Collision detection... hmmm :-)

It will be needed for a variety of on-canvas displays... eg

  • measurement tool

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LjfVyGbHsdc is a video of Inkscape's measuring tool that @felipesanches did for me in 2011 (it is since much better than it was then but I can't find a video)
