In https://typedrawers.com/discussion/4818/fontbakery-feedback/p1 Ray Larabie explains he had a super tough time getting FB installed on Windows, and

I recommend watching someone who doesn't know what they're doing try to install it in Windows.

I'm sure @felipesanches you'll have to hold your nose, but I think this is an important point.

I also expect that this implies Windows users who had so much trouble are not regularly updating, so it would be good to include guidance for doing so as well.

Note for myself:
The install docs for Windows mention python >= 3.6, but currently we need >=3.8.

Actually, that's the case for the documentation of all 3 platforms, not only Windows.

Another think that's still not mentioned in the docs is the new installation procedure for FonfBakery version 0.9.0a1 or newer, in which vendor-specific profiles have their own extras, so that the dependency-tree is minimized depending on specific user needs.

This was described at google/fonts#6587 and also on our CHANGELOG at https://github.com/googlefonts/fontbakery/blob/main/CHANGELOG.md#090a1-2023-aug-02 It should also be mentioned in the docs.

This portion here really sounds more confusing than it should:

It also mentions python 3.6 and I see no point in keeping that old message "wait for the next release of FontBakery after 0.5.1". We're way into the future now!
