User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.9; rv:27.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/27.0 (Beta/Release)
Build ID: 20140127194636

Steps to reproduce:

Google's Open Sans was replaced with Intel's Clear Sans in https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=877203

Actual results:

There are a few issues with Intel's Clear Sans:

Lack of maintenance

- Intel started a mailing list to discuss development, but it has had zero posts since June 2013
- Intel never started a Git repo with sources
- Intel never released any sources anywhere

Naming Clash

- There is another font also named Clear Sans, released in November 2013

Expected results:

Vernon Adams has forked Clear Sans as 'Opak Sans,' making improvement for better Freetype rendering (thus better Firefox on Android rendering), and publishing his sources on Github.

I request Mozilla use this version so that bugs found will be fixed by Vernon :)

I don’t think Opak Sans ever came to be released :(

Does this issue still reproduce?

Thanks!

This is actually INVALID; Clear Sans has by now been removed from Fennec due to web-compat issues (bug 1392147).

@susheel: Please change this bug’s status to INVALID. Thanks!
