One-day symposium of visions, signs and unseen worlds. Organised in conjunction with the exhibitions Writing Systems of the Otherworld (Alphabetum XV). Presented by West Den Haag in collaboration with the Institut Designlabor Gutenberg (Hochshule Mainz, DE), Atelier National de Recherche Typographique (Nancy, FR) and the Endangered Alphabets Project (Tim Brookes, USA).

    I recognized a Tibetan character, and I expected there would be at least one from the Vai syllabary there; looking it up, I found the character for nɗɔ... and was surprised there was only one match.

    Hi John, the characters are from the poster Writing Systems of the Otherworld, which was researched, selected and designed by Tim Brookes and Edgar Walthert for their current exhibition at the Alphabetum at West in The Hague. If you are curious you can download a PDF or order a printed copy here.

    We also recently added more details about the talks to the Alphabetica: Entering Otherworlds project page. A small follow-up publication by Tim Brookes will be released in connection with the symposium and will be given out free to all participants.
