I write to you from my very tiny hotel room in the East Village, where I await the Typographics conference this weekend in NYC. Is anyone else going?

I’ll be there with a few Letterform Archive colleagues. See us at the book fair.

I now know I am old and completely out of touch. I only recognized the name of one presenter, Wael Morcos, out of all those giving talks!
  • I hope you both got to experience McSorley's Old Ale House. A great way to spend the time in that part of Manhattan.

I had a blast — met @Kent Lew, @Stephen Coles, Paul Shaw, Rich Kegler, and many other luminaries. The highlights for me were the informal conversations over lunch and dinner and the book fair. Also, as one of the presenters pointed out, where else can you see TV-style commercials for type foundries? I enjoy being marketed to, if the product is relevant and the marketing clever. I have yet to try my "font-shaped sponge" from Darden.

I’ve stopped flying because of the climate crisis, and am reluctant to drive into the US, given the present administration. So am confined to Canada and online, these days.
