Trademarking a logo words only

What are your thoughts on licensing allowing a customer to trademark their logo, which is a unique short word only using your font.
Permit? Not permit? And why?
I've generally always been against it as I never looked into the legal ramifications - but not sure there are actually any to worry about. Anyone?

You have to talk to a lawyer. From my conversations with lawyers I've concluded there is literally no down side to us permitting it. AND, if a company uses our font for their logo they are more committed to the font. Also, as much as font people know logos are cake, it looks better in your portfolio.7
