Microsoft Visual TrueType (VTT) OS Requirements?

The latest version of Visual TrueType 6.34 [December, 2020 release] requires July 2016 version of Windows 10 or newer (Windows 10, version 1607) to run.
We are curious whether anyone is running earlier versions of Windows that need to run Visual TrueType?

FWIW, a year or so ago, VTT runs well enough on wine, which pretends to be win 7 by default (configurable)1
