FontForge: Any way to compare versions of a glyph?

Does anyone knows a better way to compare versions of a glyph in FontForge?
I know I can save a copy of the whole font and then compare the two, but wondering if there's something less prone to version forking when I inevitably make changes to the wrong file.

I wrote a little script to copy for to a by layer, named by date, in each save0
