In the "shut up and take my money" department, Aksharaya have prepared six calligraphy manuals for the upcoming Typoday 2016 conference in Bangalore - introductory manuals for Devanagari, Nastaliq Urdu, Gujarati, Gumurkhi, Odia and Kannada.

If you email info@aksharaya.org, they'll courier copies to you after the conference.

Are they also available for people not visiting the conference ?2

Yes, just email them. They are a non profit dedicated to raising awareness about Indic scripts, many of the people driving the org forwards are associated with the Ek Type foundry.2

In that case they should just post hi-res scans to flickr under a CC license.

Mine just arrived. They were 1450 Rupees for the full set of six manuals - that's $21 US plus shipping. They're quite short (about 14 pages each) and fairly basic, but they're wonderful introductions to the technicalities of working with each of the scripts. I can see myself getting a lot of use out of them.1
