  Fontsmith is a leading London based type design studio with a team dedicated to designing and developing high quality typefaces for both our font library and international clients.
  We are now looking to recruit an experienced type designer. This is an exciting opportunity for a super-talented and passionate typeface designer to join our team in London.
  Duties will include the development of typeface design concepts from a brief and expanding existing designs into further character sets, weights and styles. Strong drawing, crafting and production skills are a must as is a good understanding of the workings of a contemporary and forward thinking design practice.

Knowledge & Experience Requirements
  

  • 2-5 years experience as a type designer.

  • 
Experience with all aspects of font technology and production techniques.


  • Experience and confidence to talk about your ideas.


  • Knowledge and experience working in the design industry.



  
  Skill Requirements
  

  • Skilled with FontLab, Glyphs, Illustrator and experience with publishing packages such as InDesign and MS Office.


  • Strong communication skills.


  • Understanding of the design and font business.


  • A creative and strong type design portfolio.


  • Creative thinking.

  
  Key Responsibilities
  

  • To conceptualise and present new design ideas.


  • Review, discuss and craft new typeface design ideas.

  • 
Ability to design typographic logos from concept.


  • Maintain an understanding type design trends.


  • Manage the production of your projects.


  • Assist colleagues in design related ad-hoc duties as they arise.

  
  The position is full-time at our offices in Great Sutton Street, London.
